Thanks Dr Berry for all your teachings as I have learned a lot . My husband is type 2 diabetic but is very slim and weighs 65kg. All the videos and advice I have seen is for people to go on keto diet and they all report weight loss and a reversal of type 2 diabetes. So what diet can he eat to reverse his condition without loosing further weight 🤔. He is having complications now with his eyes and he has commenced keto but I need advice as I don't know if the high fat diet will increase his cholesterol. Thanks

I ate an apple, then tested my sugar right after, I was shocked. They always recommend "plenty of fruits and vegetables." They are SO wrong.

All good advice! And the CGM (continuous glucose monitor) has been supremely helpful with me. I watched another channel where a doctor recommended fruit and whole grains. And I know from the CGM that is BAD advice. I use a Freestyle Libre 2 and really like it. I have it paired with my iPhone and is super helpful.

Have you had anyone whose blood sugar goes UP from exercising? Even strict low carb, I was walking 4-5 miles a day and my blood sugar would sky rocket for at least an hour afterwards. It used to really tick me off. Now I'm way off track trying to get back to doing what i need to.

Hello all and Dr. Thank you for this playlist of videos, they're really great! I have a question about "reversing/curing" my type 2 diabetes. I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago with an A1C of 6.9, in 2 weeks of a complete diet change, I brought that down to a pretty consistent 5.3 to 5.5. I have seen it spike up the next morning to 6.7 twice after restaurant steak salads (assuming there was sugar in the salad dressing, i'll get it on the side next time).
My question(s) is: If I was able to keep this up for a prolonged period of time (meaning 5-10 years) can I consider myself a non-diabetic? Do I need to check my levels ever again? (obviously as long as I don't go back to my old diet). Basically, can I go out with family or friends without thinking of my carb/sugar intake? or is "Cured/reversed" to say that I if I stay on the same path, I shouldn't have to worry about the serious side effects like heart attacks and vision loss, etc…
I ask because it would be nice to hear that I can go on to live a normal person's life after a prolonged time of being so strict. I would consider that truly being cured. Before this, I ate horribly, but now I eat "overly" healthy and would like to enjoy an all you can eat restaurant once or twice a year or have a good slice of cake for my birthday instead of a small sliver. You know? just a once in a blue moon thing, like regular people. Thank you so much! I'm losing weight, 37 more pounds and I'll be at my ideal goal!
