NCLEX App for RN & PN – 1,500 questions, visual detailed rationals

A message from Mike Linares, founder of Simplenursing
Since 2012, I started to do mini lectures from my parents in home library, armed with a white board from Walmart & a sock to erase the board. Since then I have created over 1,200 videos, only 20% which live on YouTube, and have helped over 100,000 nursing students pass their NCLEX, HESI, ATI, and Kaplan proctor exams. Thank you for the continued support and love as we strive to help LPN, LVN and RN students become licensed nurses!

Insulin is a peptide hormone that is created by beta cells in the pancreas, specifically in the islets of langerhan. Insulin puts sugar and potassium into the cell, which causes hypoglycemia, a reduction of blood serum sugar. The pathophysiology of type 1 diabetes is where the body destroys the beta cells in the pancreas leading to no insulin production, and type 2 diabetes the body becomes insulin resistant due to over production of insulin, typically due to a diet with a high glycemic index (high in simple sugars).

In this video Mike Linares RN breaks down a complete NCLEX review of the various types of insulin, including mnemonic & memory tricks on how to remember insulin peak times, onset, and duration of:
– Rapid acting insulin: Lispro insulin, Aspart insulin, Glulisine insulin (brand names: Humalog, Novolog, Apidra)
– Short acting insulin: Regular Insulin (Humulin, Acrapid, Novolin)
– Intermediate acting insulin: NPH, Lente
– Long acting insulin: Glargine insulin, Detemir insulin (brand names: Lantus, Levemir)

This 7 part video series on endocrine medical surgical adult health nursing is intended to help registered nurse RN students and LPN students with NCLEX memorization tricks. In this video series Michael Linares, RN from Simple Nursing helps explain the nursing pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, causes, pathology, treatment options for various diagnosis, which are expected to know for the NCLEX, HESI, ATI, and Kaplan proctor exams.
