In the UK, current 2012 NHS diabetes diet advice is that there is no special diet for people with diabetes.
Many people with diabetes focus on the carbohydrate content of their meals and prefer a low-carb diet for tight blood glucose level control.

The diet you are promoting will keep diabetics diabetic, perhaps that is the agenda, imagine if everyone managed to reverse their condition, thousands of jobs lost, big pharma losing billions, perhaps there is an agenda?
Well, I know this 2012 footage is relatively old, yet here we are, almost 2020, and we are still being – excuse the pun – fed this nonsense!
Bread, pasta, rice and potatoes: Why not chuck in a couple of jam doughnuts? And 'healthy' vegetable oils -really?
Oddly enough, the diet being recommended by this 'health professional' sounds very similar to the diet that I followed until I was finally diagnosed with T2D.
Once I'd been issued my blood glucose test gadget, and rejected the offer of insulin, statins and ACE inhibitors, I took a trip to Waterstones, where I started my own health education.
Well, I decided to do the exact opposite of the absolutely terrible advice offered in the above video. Result: Normal A1c within months. This, without medication. I was told that avoiding an 'essential' macronutrient – carbohydrate – is unhealthy and dangerous. Really? I thought essential referred to nutrition that the body cannot make by itself. Vitamin C, or essential amino acids, for example. What about neoglucogenesis?
Three years later, and I'm still in the normal – non diabetic – A1c range without medication. I'm still being offered the ACE inhibitors and statins – just in case, you understand – to bring down my 'high' 116/63 BP and super-normal Cholesterol levels.
Either our presenter here is a wee bit dim, and couldn't find the library, or just telling porkies!
