Thank you lady. The only people that disagree are lying to themselves. There is nothing pretty, healthy or feeling great about being fat.

  3. Dd O

It's madness. I work in Healthcare. They give blk women a pass on obesity all the time. It's sick.

Did you even bother reading the article. My guess is NO.

People need to understand the difference between prevalent and normal.

they could have shown her in ANY of various poses to showcase her yoga abilities and WOW the viewer🙄. Instead they have her spread eagle pot belly front & center in purple gloss giving me SKRONG orca vibes 🙄🤦‍♀️. Sorry not sorry, in my randy voice- it's a NO for me dawg 🤮👎🙅‍♀️

Sorry, your anger is directed at the wrong entity. Your anger need to be directed at Black people in general, Black women in particular.

Overweight and obesity is up across the board in America for all demographics.

When it comes to overweight, obesity and morbidly obesity. Black people lead the chart. Black women out pace everyone by large margins (no pun) intended.

You can look at the numbers, when you graph the numbers for the visual representations: Oh My Goodness.

I can empathize, mention the problem Black people are in, watch how defensive Black woman become with the subject.

Source: Normal weight, overweight and obesity among adults aged 20 and over, by selected characteristics: United States, selected years 1988-1994 through 2015-2018.

    Keep up the fight.

Self magazine is not the problem.

You are right that this is marketing. But I have seen something more. Fat Activists try to compare the problems of being fat to the problems of racism. Seriously. This is offensive. And I'm seeing the media eat it up more and more. (The cover of Cosmopolitan magazine also had Jessamyn Stanley with a caption saying "This is Healthy".) These fat activist morbidly obese white women that don't wanna do anything to lose weight latch themselves to a bunch of other movements. And they have been doing that for longer than most people think. These Fat Activists are dragging people down with them. They are dragging black women and other non-white women down with them while a bunch of other people are shouting: "You Go Girl".

The non-fat "you-go-girl" people are acting like self-destructive fat activists dragging black women down with them is empowering. They are acting like these self-destructive fat activists dragging down other women of color down with them is also empowering. It's not empowering them, it's making them weaker. It's killing them!

I get what you’re saying, however, have you ever taken her yoga classes? She is the truth and her classes will have you feeling amazing!

Purple teletubbie had me rolling! 🤣

  13. Essence of Coils

Well said Jo 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 This should not be our standard of fitness. Also, we can encourage people without lying to them and cheering on what should be lovingly corrected.
