Do I understand correctly that first insulin secretion increases due to ineffective clearance of sugar molecules out of blood and later on decreases significantly due to atrophy of beta cells? I am a bit confused and looking for an answer because I can recall from pathology clinics that we were jokingly “locked” in the auditorium by out lecturer (with a good sense of humour) until someone says correctly whether insulin goes up or down during initial stages of insulin resistance development 🤣 I replied that it goes up and we were released 🤣 many years later I am keen to understand why this happens
