Breaking Barriers for Health Equity! 🌍πŸ’ͺ Addressing Racism, Mental Health & Resilience Revealed. πŸš€ Addressing Systemic Racism, Mental Health Stigma & Community Resilience to Achieve Health Equity

In celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AA and NHPI), we are highlighting videos from lectures and seminars that addressed health equity for AA and NHPI populations or recognized AA and NHPI leaders who have made a significant impact in public health. In this May 2022 recording of the Vivek H. Murthy Distinguished Lecture Series on Public Health Leadership, Dr. Murthy recognized Michelle Wu, Mayor of Boston, for her leadership in addressing racism and mental health stigma impacting AA and NHPI communities.

This is the second in a series of fireside chats in honor of Dr. Murthy, the 19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States. The goal of the series is to recognize a public health leader, such as Mayor Wu, whose enduring efforts have made a significant impact on advancing public health. NIMHD Director Eliseo PΓ©rez-Stable, M.D., provided introductory remarks, and NIMHD Deputy Director Monica Webb Hooper, Ph.D., moderated the conversation between Dr. Murthy and Mayor Wu.
