A single 1 ounce serving of Almonds contains more than 15 vitamins and minerals such as Magnesium and Riboflavin. Almonds are low in carbs at around 5 grams of carbohydrates 3 of which are fiber giving them a net carb of only 2 grams! And with 6 grams of protein, they are sure to satisfy you.
03:00 Veggies and Hummus.
2 tablespoons only has about 3 grams of carbs with 1 gram of fiber leaving a balance of only 2 net carbs!
03:49 Cottage Cheese.
1 half-cup of cottage cheese has about 13 grams of protein and only 4 grams of carbohydrates! Just go easy on the topping and this can be the perfect snack.
04:36 Edamame.
A 1 cup serving of Edamame contains about 17 grams of protein, 8 grams of fiber with about 15 grams of carbohydrates. That means it only has about 7 grams of net carbs per serving.
05:09 Greek Yogurt.
Greek yogurt has twice the amount of protein as regular yogurt which gives it the power to keep you feeling fuller, longer. Yogurt has only 90 calories, 5 grams of carbs, and 18 grams of protein!
05: 50 Cheese.
String cheese is a portable, low-carb, and easy snack option. The “Light” string cheese has only 50 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat, and 1 gram of carbohydrate per stick! Not to mention it’s a great source of calcium.

Try tuna with diced veggies such as red bell pepper, cucumber, and green onion. Mayo isn’t the best idea but a great substitute that can still give you that creamy texture is avocado! If you mash up a ripe avocado and season, it can easily replace mayo and is much healthier. You can also use the tuna, veggies, and avocado mixture as a dip and use sliced veggies as a “chip” or try using a lettuce leaf as a wrap.

Chickpeas have made it onto this list again! Roasted chickpeas are so simple to make and can satisfy your crunchy, salty snacking need..¼ cup of chickpeas contains about 74 calories and has 12 grams of carbohydrates with 3.5 being fiber leaving it with only 8.5 grams of net carbs.

Berries are one of the best fruit options for diabetics. Raspberries and blackberries have the fewest carbohydrates per serving. Raspberries have about 3 grams of net carbs per ½ cup and blackberries have about 4 grams net carbs per ½ cup.

Hi Doc. I've watched quite a number of your videos but haven't heard you mention lentils. I love them, actually prefer them to beans. 1.Are lentils bad for diabetes? 2. I would like to try the roasted chickpeas; they are quite hard. Do they have to be soaked before roasting? I usually soak them overnight, cook them for a few minutes in a pressure cooker and add to stew. Hope I've not been destroying all the nutrients. 🙂🤨

do not care for Hummus but love the raw Veggies ,however since I have upper False teeth ,I can not eat nuts or raw veggies! I make overnight Oatmeal with Greek Yogart, ground nuts, hemp seeds and chia seeds! I hate fish and seafood so no tuna ,Yuk! I have resorted to Freeze dried Strawberries for now! Sometimes Cottage cheese and cheese!

Accidently came across you, and glad that happened. I joined Weight Watchers back in January of 2021, Green plan. 2 years ago my A1C was at 13.2, presently I've lost over 60 pounds ( since Weight Watchers ), and my A1C was at 5.8 in late August. I'm not advertising for them, just saying " That I needed a strict Structure to get off my Butt, & stop making excuses. Keep it up.
